Small businesses are really feeling the pinch at the moment. Now more than ever, we need to band together and support our local businesses (it doesn't necessarily have to be buying from them!) so we can stay afloat through 2020. I'd love to introduce you to my friend, Mary! She's the CEO (Chief Enthusiasm Officer) of Mary Barrett Global and a ‘MasterMum’ of 2 young children. If you are at crossroads since having children, she can use her experience of being a mum and of the corporate world to help you move forward, both personally and professionally.
What does your business do?
If you are looking for an independent, compassionate, fun and intuitive Coach to work with you to achieve a better version of yourself, team or organisation you have found the right person. I love disrupting your thinking, being a supportive catalyst for change and truly encouraging you to be a stretcher of possibilities.
As an accredited Australian Board of NLP Trainer, Coach and Hypnotherapist, I draw on nearly three decades of experience of working in the Corporate field in three different countries. I’ve had to get out of my comfort zone countless times in both my work and in my personal life and along the way I have learned about the power of resilience, courage and embracing discomfort as a prerequisite for success.

I work with clients to increase their personal power, self-belief, and self-confidence to enable them to have even more success, both professionally and personally.
MasterMums
Through a series of one to one sessions I work with Mums to increase their self-identity, self-belief and self-confidence. Empowering and supporting them to feel more in control and enabling them to have more balance and even more holistic successes.
MasterTeams
Working with individuals in a group context to develop collaborative peer relationships, share knowledge and to improve self, team and organisational communication and business results.

How did you get started in the business?
I started my coaching career in the early 1990s whilst being a Manager at Barclays Bank in London. I was trained by GROW coaching model founders, Sir John Whitmore and David Emery. This set me up to be an ‘eternal student’.
Knowing that I wanted to enable others to make more transformational and sustainable changes, I enhanced my coaching practice by attaining my NLP Practitioner accreditation with Arielle Essex in London in 1999. In that same year I embarked on the Anthony Robbins Life University Programme, following Anthony Robbins around the world and enjoying an intensive 18 months learning the practical application of NLP from one of today’s recognised Coaching Masters.
In 2000 I was headhunted by BMW UK to join their team as a Regional Quality Coach and was soon asked to be the Coach for BMW Germany training all the Quality Coaches for Europe; the first female in this position.
To fulfil my own personal dream of coaching and training international leaders and managers in a range of organisations, in 2004 I decided to start my own business. In 2010 I gained my Master Practitioner level in NLP in Singapore and in 2014 my NLP Trainers accreditation in Sydney Australia with NLP Worldwide. NLP Worldwide are recognized as one of the top 30 NLP trainers in the world.
How did you meet Elise?
I was fortunate to meet Elise at local Iyengar yoga studio. We would probably recognise each other more from being upside down in our yoga asanas than standing upright or face to face! I am truly inspired by Elise as an authentic MasterMum of 3 young boys. Developing and growing a much-needed business opportunity whilst being a Mum takes extreme resilience, determination, and creativity which Elise has in abundance. I am excited about her business adventures and quest to make a difference in our world. A fabulous role model for other women and more importantly her sons too.
What is life like for you at the moment, and what’s your outlook for the coming year?
I am writing this as Singapore goes into an extended COVID-19 lockdown, so my answer is relevant to this time! I am in the process of nearly launching my podcast ‘A Cup of Tea with Mary B’, inspirational chats and interviews with ‘ordinary’ MasterLeaders and MasterMums doing extraordinary things with their one and only lives.
